Skyrim: What will you do first?
Bob and I have tackled this question on the podcast before, but I'd love to hear your plans. Assuming it begins with some sort of tutorial dungeon lightly narrated by a Next Generation cast member, what will you do when you're free to explore the world?
I can't remember what I said on the podcast, so this is my current plan:
I will find a nearby settlement (not the closest, I'll need to stretch my legs) and talk to its inhabitants. Assuming they are friendly, I'll make a judgement about whether or not I think they are going to factor in to the main story arc. This should be easily puzzled out. It's all about quest quality. If the settlement seems ancillary I will then put them all to the sword. Then I will loot their bodies and ransack their homes. If there is a way to set fire to their ghost town, I'll do that as well. At this point my bloodlust will be sated and I should be able to make it through some story quests without murdering the annoying quest givers.
What's your plan? I hope it involves dragons.

In the same vein, I have discovered how to have every assassin in Skyrim try to kill me all the time.babylonsean wrote:I will figure out a way to get random bandits to set my horse on fire.

I finally found enough packages to unlock the rocket launcher at my hideout.

Spent about three hours Pickpocketing people and committing burglary. Has anybody found out where to sell stolen goods?

You need to join the thieves guild to get access to fences. I'm actually doing those quests now. They're pretty fun.babylonsean wrote:Spent about three hours Pickpocketing people and committing burglary. Has anybody found out where to sell stolen goods?

Ahhh, ok. I didn't play Oblivion and didn't really thief in Morrowind. BTW, Dan are you playing this on Steam?

Bob, all of us want to be a werewolf, but let's keep this thread on topic with Skyrim discussion only.

Sorry.
A 55 gold fine for shocking a chicken to death!?! ...Skyrim, am I right.
Re: Skyrim: What will you do first?
What kind of character are you guys playing as? I'm a cat-burglar. And my guy is a cat. Get it? Cat burglar? Seriously, though. Thieves guild quests are great.

Bob, Dan, please tell me one of you bought Skyrim on 360 so that I can try to buy it from one of you in 6-12 months.
I am watching the 12 hour playthrough on Giant Bomb. Looks so great!

I'm not playing Skyrim!
My friend showed me this, though. I thought I'd share since Dan has a thing for video game music.

I just heard there is a mission where you go to drink at an in, you get into a drinking competition, you black out, you wake up in another town on the other side of the continent and you have no idea what happened.

Re: Skyrim: What will you do first?
I don't know when I will finally be able to play Skyrim, but I have been wondering what kind of character I will play when I do. I am thinking about either full-magic or archer. Does anyone have any experience that might provide some illumination when the time comes?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Skyrim: What will you do first?
The default seems to be spell in one hand and sword in the other. I did that for awhile, but switched to archer later. After awhile, being archer makes the game VERY easy. Still fun, just easy.
Re: Skyrim: What will you do first?
My wife surprised me with Skyrim today! Merry Christmas! I will create a Wood Elf archer, perhaps named Legolas because I am not very original.
How far should I follow the main story before branching off?

Re: Skyrim: What will you do first?
I am so excited for you! Merry Christmas! Main story is great, but not crazy long. I did it pretty quick, but in retrospect wish I had slowed down a little. Pace yourself? I dunno.
Re: Skyrim: What will you do first?
I went Redguard instead of Wood Elf though I am still leaning toward archer. Not ten minutes out of the tutorial I found a vampire lair and was killed quickly by its single guard. After reloading, I ran away and a few minutes later I found some ruins and was quickly killed by some kind of dryad/tree spirit. Good times. I also got the "arrow to the knee" line from the very first guard I talked to.
This game is great!
